Learn How to Play Guitar
To start out it is a great idea to either take guitar lessons in person or take them online. Now there are so many ways to learn guitar. Heck now you can even learn through playing a video game.
Now you can also learn online with lessons. Generally all guitar players start out the same. They start learning and mastering the basics which include memorizing the major and minor chords. That is usually the first hurdle you have to jump as a beginner.
Then there is getting used to chord changes. Basically you need to make your hands adjust to playing. This takes a couple of weeks to a month. Then there is learning guitar by ear. Lots of guitar players will learn tabs and then do nothing but look up tabs for all of these popular songs.
But if you truly want to sound good on guitar, be able to pick up songs just by listening to them, and get a feel for music then learning by ear is definitely the way to go. I remember when I first started out it was so inspiring to watch someone listen to a song and then learn it right away just by listening to it. This comes with a lot of practice
My suggestion is to start out with guitar tabs so you give yourself a boost in learning. But don’t get hooked on them or your playing will not sound as good. After adjusting your hands to playing and getting a basic understanding of the fretboard it is pretty much about listening and playing to become a good guitar player.
The greatest guitar players were those you mastered the art of transcribing music. This is what learning by ear and feeling is all about. Transcribing music means to translate music well. Think of it like someone who can speak two languages fluently. They translate for someone who can only speak one of the languages.
Transcribing is like the same thing only with music. You learn to translate music with your voice which in this case is a guitar. So start out learning the common chords. Then learn how to read tabs.
Listen and learn some easy songs preferably music that you are into. Then develop a feel for rhythm. Chord changes are really the first obstacle to overcome as a complete beginner. Then there is so much to explore. There are so many techniques to master, genres or music to learn, and countless songs to get down. For more insight check out this guitar course called Jamorama.
Jamorama Review
Jamorama is an online guitar lessons program that was developed to help the complete beginner learn and master guitar from the comfort of their home. Now there are a things things I want to cover about improving your guitar playing.
First of all there are going to be times when you get bored with guitar and even hate it to the point of giving up. Even Hendrix went through these times. It is only natural to have this kind of relationship with a new hobby you are getting into.
Playing guitar well takes a long time. It is a whole process. You can develop your skill and talent right away but chances are you don’t have that much spare time like some people do. Some guys can play for over 5 hours each day and then become very good at it.
One thing you should understand about practicing guitar is that it is not about how many hours you put int your playing as it is how much effort you put into those hours. You should be practicing diligently. Don’t just dabble. Actually challenge yourself so that you don’t get bored with playing. So many new players get stuck because they limit their true potential to become great musicians.
If you find yourself uninspired then take the time to watch a great musicians on Youtube or whatever so that you see how good you can become. Anybody can do whatever they put their mind to and that is what playing guitar can teach you. It can break down the limits you have inside your mind.
I recommend starting out with a beginner guitar course such as Jamorama. It is a wonderful course to get into as it teaches the basics of guitar and beyond. You need to learn the basics which include the major and minor chords.
Also I recommend learning music theory and how it is applied to the fretboard. Theory gives you a much better understanding of the fretboard. So if you are interested in starting out this hobby be sure to read this Jamorama review for more insight.
Learning the C, A, and G Chords
When you are first starting out with guitar you are not going to know a thing about the fretboard. So on the most basic level you should start out learning the chord structures like with the major C, A, and G chords.
To from a C chord start by putting your first finger on the first fret of the B string. Then take your next finger and press down on the second fret of the D string. Finally with your first two fingers in place press down on the third fret of the A string using your third finger. That is the open C chord which is played from the A string down.
To form an A chord take your first finger and press on the second fret of the D string. Then take your next finger to press on the second fret of the G string. Finally use your third finger to press on the second fret of the B string. That is the A chord as an open chord. Strum it from the open A string down.
Now for the G chord you will want to take your first finger and press on the second fret of the A string. Take your middle finger and press on the third fret of the low E string. Then with your third finger press on the third fret of the high E string. That is the open G chord. It takes a while to get them down which is why you will need to practice.
Jamorama Guitar Lessons – Getting Comfortable with Playing
Playing guitar is very fun but to get better you need to practice. Same thing goes for feeling comfortable.
This means comfortable physically and mentally. What I am trying to say is do not rush your learning. Your fingers will start to hurt at first because you are not used to playing. Your body is adapting to it so be patient as it takes some time before your fingers get used to it.
Also your fingers will not be able to keep up with the speed of some songs. It takes a while to get and be able to handle faster songs well. Just ease into it. Do not try to become a guitar master in the first month as it takes a while for it to really sink in.
Also you probably should not play in front of other people starting out until you feel confident enough. You do not want to get discouraged if someone tells you are no good. You just need to put your mind into it and not care what anybody thinks.
All it takes is plenty of practice to get better. Just keep on mastering the basics until you get comfortable with play. Then take it up a notch. Everyone learns on their own pace. Do not think that you need to learn fast. Something like an hour a day is fine.
Just keep at it until you really get comfortable. Practice, practice, and practice some more until you feel like you can take on the world with your guitar.
Learn How to Play Guitar Quickly
If you truly would like to master the fretboard of a guitar then you need to practice a lot. It is not just about practicing but also learning. Learn a few basic chord structures from a teacher and then practice.
You need to feel the music. Everytime you practice you are making your body adapt to it. You are making it easier to play the guitar the mmore time you spend on it. Practice really does make perfect. That is not just a cliche.
So some great exercises you can do to become a great guitar player is learning chords and scales. This is pretty basic stuff that many people overlook in the beginning. You do not want to get ahead of yourself because you may regret it later on.
The major chords are a must. Learn the positioning of A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. What you ideally want to be able to do is understand what notes go together. You need to understand what notes are in tune with each other.
Like when you hear someone talking about what key a song is they are talking about what sound it is. If it is the sound of an A major then other notes that go with it are D and E notes.
If you are a beginner you must get scales and chords down. Also getting your fingers used to pressing the strings can be frustrating as it may hurt. Like I said your body needs to get used to it.
